Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Montessori-certified Early Years Practitioner for a progressive learning center in Vereeniging. The role focuses on guiding children through Montessori methods, fostering independence and curiosity, and creating an authentic learning environment in Gauteng.

The ideal candidate should hold Montessori credentials (AMI/MACTE or equivalent), have a Diploma or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, and proven Montessori classroom experience.

Qualifications

• AMI/MACTE Montessori certification
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
• Proven experience working in a Montessori preschool or kindergarten environment
• Deep understanding of Montessori philosophy, principles and materials
• Excellent observational skills and ability to assess child development
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective parent and colleague interaction
• Patient, calm and nurturing personality with a passion for child development
• Ability to maintain a prepared environment and manage classroom dynamics
• Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning
• Must be legally able to work in South Africa and available to work full‑time in Vereeniging

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a well‑organized Montessori classroom environment.
• Guide children in self‑directed learning activities using Montessori materials and principles.
• Observe and document each child’s progress, understanding their individual needs and developmental stage.
• Foster independence, concentration and self‑discipline in children.
• Introduce and demonstrate the correct use of Montessori materials.
• Ensure the safety and well‑being of all children in the classroom.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress and the Montessori approach.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to deepen understanding of Montessori pedagogy.
• Model respectful interactions and a calm demeanor.
