Job summary

A global leader in Security Solutions is seeking a Modelling and Simulation Engineer to enhance system performance through simulation and optimization in Electro-optic systems. Ideal candidates will have a B.Eng in Electronics, with advanced proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and relevant optimization experience in a research environment, matched with a minimum of 5 years' experience. This role requires expertise in data analysis, system engineering, and algorithm design.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in Scientific or Engineering R&D and/or Product Development.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and advanced data analysis skills.
  • Basic knowledge of System Engineering and Algorithm Design.

Job description

ENVIRONMENT : YOUR expertise in modelling and simulation, specifically in Electro-optic sensors, components, and subsystems is sought by a global leader in Security Solutions seeking their next Modelling and Simulation Engineer.

Applicants should have an interest and aptitude to evaluate and improve system performance through optimisation of optics and algorithms.

You should be able to analyse and summarise results of, for example, field and laboratory measurements so that it can be presented to various stakeholders.

You will require a B.Eng Degree in Electronics or equivalent tertiary qualification and preferably have at least 5 years experience in a Scientific or Engineering R&D and/or Product Development environment with proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and similar tools, with advanced knowledge and experience required.

DUTIES :

  1. Modelling and Simulation - Design and use of system models, including MATLAB, Simulink, Python, Excel (Advanced). Hardware-in-the-loop simulations at component (e.g., detector) level and system level. Evaluation and optimisation to improve overall system performance.
  2. Lens Design Analysis - Evaluate existing and proposed optical designs using commercial lens design packages. Model as part of larger system models.
  3. Filter Design and Evaluation - Understand thin film filters, absorption filters, measurement of filters, and robustness design.
  4. Algorithm Design and Signal Processing - Assist in algorithm development and optimisation as required.
  5. Data Analysis - Analyze measurement data, summarize, and present results. Prepare algorithms for deployment onto embedded systems.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Qualifications: B.Eng. in Electronics or an equivalent qualification. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience/Skills: Minimum of 5 years experience in Scientific or Engineering R&D and/or Product Development. Advanced knowledge of MATLAB, Python, and similar tools. Good skills in summarising and presenting results. Basic System Engineering knowledge. Data Analysis and Reporting. Signal Processing. Electro-Optics. Radiometry. Image Processing Software. Electronic Warfare.
  • Advantageous Knowledge: Electronics production, repair, and maintenance environment. Knowledge of Electro-optic systems, Optics, Electro-optic, and Radiometry.
