New job opportunity - Contract 6 - 12 Months - SDET - Native Mobile Automation Engineer - Stellenbosch

SDET – Native Mobile Automation Engineer

Stellenbosch | Software Development Engineer in Test | Mobile Automation | iOS & Android

Are you a hands-on SDET who enjoys building automation rather than simply executing existing scripts? This is an engineering-focused opportunity to design and develop scalable mobile test automation across iOS and Android, working closely with developers, QA and product teams.

Company and Job Description

Our client is looking for an experienced SDET / Test Automation Engineer to join their technical environment in Stellenbosch. The role offers the opportunity to work across the full mobile quality engineering lifecycle, from framework design and automation development through to API testing, CI/CD integration, troubleshooting and release confidence.

You will play a key role in strengthening engineering quality by creating reusable automation solutions, improving application testability and identifying defects earlier in the software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will work directly with developers and other engineering stakeholders in an Agile environment.

If you enjoy solving complex automation challenges, working with modern mobile technologies and having a direct impact on software quality, this Stellenbosch-based opportunity could be your next move.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain reusable, scalable test automation frameworks and components for mobile applications.
• Develop automated functional, regression, integration and end-to-end test suites across iOS and Android.
• Execute testing across physical devices, emulators and simulators, covering different OS versions, screen sizes and device configurations.
• Validate mobile functionality including navigation, gestures, permissions, push notifications, biometrics, deep links, offline behaviour and application lifecycle scenarios.
• Validate integrations between mobile applications, APIs and backend services, including automated API testing.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD build, deployment and release pipelines.
• Investigate failed automated tests, analyse logs and test results, and support root-cause analysis and defect resolution.
• Work closely with developers to improve application testability and strengthen engineering quality.
• Manage test data, test environments and device configurations required for automated and exploratory testing.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle.
