ABOUT US

The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd, has commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site with a projected production of up to 8 million tonnes of coal per annum. With a long mine life, it targets high-quality coal, primarily metallurgical coal.

ABOUT THE ROLE

To support our ongoing growth, we currently have an opportunity for a Mobile and Surface Plant Mechanical Coordinator to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the provision and maintenance of a safe, compliant, and efficient fleet of mobile plant, attachments, ancillary equipment, and surface infrastructure. This role is critical in supporting operational performance by aligning equipment reliability and maintenance practices with the mine's engineering standards and business objectives.

Key responsibilities :

  1. Develop, implement, and continuously improve maintenance strategies for the responsible asset group using best practice methodologies to meet safety and operational objectives.
  2. Oversee and facilitate the introduction of all underground diesel plant, attachments, and associated ancillary equipment in line with site engineering standards.
  3. Scope, plan, and manage equipment overhauls to meet legislative requirements, balancing cost, schedule, safety, and performance.
  4. Ensure all plant in the responsible asset group complies with relevant Australian Standards, industry guidelines, and legislative requirements.
  5. Manage planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities, maintaining accurate equipment history records via the mine's CMMS and asset database.
  6. Monitor equipment performance and reliability through data collection and analysis, including availability, downtime, maintenance inputs, condition monitoring, and performance testing.
  7. Develop and implement improvement strategies for equipment performance issues to maximize reliability and efficiency.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience in underground coal mining.
  • Hold a Mechanical Trade Qualification and/or Mechanical Engineering Qualification.
  • Possess detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and industry guidelines.
  • Have a sound understanding of underground mining equipment and machinery.
  • Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess an AS3584 Maintenance Qualification (ExDES) and knowledge of PULSE Maintenance System (CMMS) would be advantageous.

Successful applicants will be required to undertake an Order 43 medical, including drug and alcohol testing.
