Job description

POSITION:Production Foreman

JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT:Regulating the optimum production in the pit, with knowledge of optimal machine activity. Ensuring a safe environment for all in the open pit operation.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):

• Ensure overall effective production and that production targets are achieved.
• Adhere to organisational Safety and Quality requirements.
• Ensure compliance with organisational safety, health, environment and quality standards and procedures
• Ensure that any accident / incident/ breakdown is reported to the Supervisor immediately
• Responsible to ensure safe profitable production to plan
• Responsible to ensure the correct booking of hour meters on the daily report after shift.
• Responsible to ensure accurate time and attendance keeping of personnel on shift.
• Responsible for all mining and hauling activities when on shift.
• Manage cost efficiency, quality of work and supervise the Load & Haul team
• Ensure good housekeeping
• Ensure to provide/ hand over a clean and safe workplace to the next supervisor on shift.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics passed as a subject
• Mining related qualification will be required
• Competency A
• Opencast Blasting Certificate will be advantageous
• Valid Driver’s license
• Clean criminal record

EXPERIENCE:

• Must have at least 5 years’ relevant experience in an Opencast Mining environment, at Supervisory level.
• Strong experience in managing a diverse team in a unionized work environment
