About Us:

Qanax Mining (Pty) Ltd is a newly established junior mining company with bold ambitions and a strong commitment to operational excellence. We are currently ramping up production at ouropen-castt coal operation in Delmas and are seeking a highly experienced and driven Production/Mine Manager to join our leadership team.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic and results-oriented mining professional with a minimum of 15 years' experience in the mining industry, including 5–7 years at a Production or Mine Manager level in open cast mining. The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing the entire mining operation, ensuring compliance, maximizing productivity, and implementing sustainable business improvement strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage open cast mining operations to achieve monthly targets of 300kt.
• Oversee the full mining value chain including:
• Drill & Blast
• Coal Processing
• Logistics
• HR and Finance interface
• Mine Planning and Mining Processes
• Coal Quality Management (aligned with Eskom standards)
• Drive operational efficiency through innovative business improvement initiatives.
• Ensure full compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and Environmental Management Plan (EMPDRA) requirements.
• Manage contracts and contractor performance in alignment with organizational objectives.
• Maintain effective stakeholder relationships including Eskom and export clients.
• Uphold high standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.

Minimum Requirements:

• Qualifications (any of the following):
• NHD in Coal Mining
• BTech in Mining Engineering
• BSc in Mining Engineering
• Mine Manager Certificate of Competency (Coal) – Mandatory
• At least 15 years’ experience in the mining industry.
• 5–7 years’ experience in a Production/Mine Manager role in open cast mining operations.
• Proven track record in:
• Contracts Management
• Strategic Business Improvement
• Coal Quality Assurance for both domestic and export markets
• Compliance with MHSA and EMPDRA provisions
