My client, a giant in the manufacturing industry, has an excellent position available for a Top-Notch Millwright at their factory based in Vereeniging. MUST have solid knowledge, skills, and experience in clay preparations, working on ball mills, pumps, motors, etc. Must have a recognized Millwright trade as well as being multi-skilled in fitting and basic electrical (done through a recognized apprenticeship). Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and post-trade test experience are required. This is a demanding role, and we are looking for the best of the best.
Key Responsibilities :
- Create and maintain a safe & healthy working environment in the department.
- Ensure asset availability conforms to KPIs.
- Maintain equipment in standard condition through asset management.
- Manage maintenance budgets financially.
- Handle consumable and critical spares requests, updates, and verification.
- Conduct daily line inspections and repairs.
- Perform PRAGMA inspections, breakdowns, and preventative maintenance.
- Develop and execute shutdown action plans.
- Serve as safety custodian for the area of responsibility and ensure compliance.
- Allocate resources for shutdowns.
- Participate in standby duties and call-outs.
- Maintain general housekeeping and ensure OHSAct compliance.
- Record and achieve set KPIs.
- Implement waste reduction and elimination strategies.
- Train department maintenance team and process controllers.
- Engage in rebuild and continuous improvement projects.
- Report unsafe acts and conditions.
- Ensure process controllers adhere to process control standards.
- Maintain plant standards and safety procedures.
- Maintain production machines, electrical machines, and electronic control gear.
- React to breakdowns promptly.
- Diagnose, fault find, and repair equipment failures to minimize downtime.
- Dismantle, fault detect, and repair machinery.
- Rebuild, reconstruct, and install machinery.
- Propose modifications for better performance or safety.
- Control Job Card information and conduct checks.
- Participate in developing, implementing, and maintaining preventative maintenance systems.

- Diagnose, fault find, and repair equipment failures to minimize downtime.
- Maintain test equipment.
- Carry out shift work as per roster.
- Perform planned maintenance to standards.
- Update drawings accurately.
- Attend training courses as required.
- Cover for other multi-skilled artisans during leave or training.
- Install electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Liaise with production and engineering staff.
- Coach operators on operating practices and autonomous maintenance.
- Suggest improvements within operations.
- Participate in shift teams and focus groups.
- Report unsafe acts and conditions.
- Prepare shift reports and ensure proper handovers.
- Adhere to environmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain good housekeeping.
- Investigate incidents and identify root causes.
- Understand SHEQ requirements.
- Attend to electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation breakdowns.
- Fault find in electrical, mechanical, PLCs, VSDs, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Read and interpret schematic drawings.
- Follow isolation and lock-out procedures.
- Work on overhead cranes, electro-pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic auto electrical systems.
Required Minimum Qualification / Experience :
- Millwright Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical & Electrical).
- Computer literate.
- SAP spares ordering experience.
- Mechanically sound and electrically strong.
- PLC experience.
- Hands-on approach and pride in work.
- Commitment to product quality.
- Ability to plan, organize, and control costs.
- Minimum 5 years as a qualified artisan in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
- Programming and fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
- Experience with cement manufacturing and packaging equipment is advantageous.
