An exciting opportunity exists for a Millwright: Utilities at NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED Rosslyn, Snacks. The successful incumbent will be responsible for The Utilities Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems within the utilities department. This includes centrifugal pumps, compressors, piping systems, and other critical infrastructure used in the production and distribution of utility services such as boilers, water, steam, gas, and wastewater.

Job Specification

Key Performance Areas:

  • Install, align, and maintain mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors, and fans used in utility operations.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on utility systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform root cause analysis to minimize downtime.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to plan and execute mechanical installations and repairs.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment for repair or replacement of parts.
  • Perform welding, pipefitting, and fabrication as needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation of all work performed. (Shop ware)
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tag out procedures, confined space entry, and hazard identification.
  • Collaborate with electricians, control technicians, and operations personnel to support plant performance and reliability.
  • Operation and functionality of boilers, generators and effluent plant.

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

  • At least 3 - 5 years’ experience as a Millwright in an industrial or utility setting.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Skilled in welding, rigging, and equipment alignment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Physical ability to work in challenging environments, including heights and confined spaces.

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Trade tested as a Millwright at an accredited training facility
  • Completed Mechanical / Electrical Engineering qualification or minimum N4 qualification
