Job summary

Execustaff Recruiting Services is seeking a maintenance technician in Johannesburg to maintain production machinery and perform fault finding to ensure safe plant operation. You will replace components, read schematics, and work to keep downtime to a minimum while coordinating with the maintenance team.

Responsibilities include adhering to health and safety standards, completing time sheets, and responding to call outs and breakdowns to keep the site running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain production machinery by replacing equipment such as control relays, contractors, isolators, limit switches, electric fans and electric conveyor rollers by fitting and aligning shafts, keyways, sprockets, wheels, lifting equipment, bearings, pulleys, clutches, pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders, control valves, etc.
• Ensure the safe running of the plant by fault finding on all machinery and preventing electrical hazards such as loose motor cables, damaged electrical push buttons, as well as mechanical hazards i.e. lubrication/hydraulic oil on the factory floor, damaged safety fences or gates, factory compressed air and water pipes
• Complete jobs according to priority and planned maintenance work schedule
• Acquire the knowledge to repair air compressors/driers and cooling towers
• Read and interpret electrical-mechanical pneumatic/hydraulic drawings
• Apply knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatic circuits and PLCs to complete tasks in the factory
• Respond to call outs and breakdowns
• Submit daily job/time sheets completely and on time
• Maintain open communication with supervisors and the maintenance team by providing regular progress feedback
• Assist other artisans when necessary to ensure timely completion of tasks
• Adhere to health and safety regulations by exercising caution when working and using equipment

• Maintain open communication with supervisors and rest of maintenance team by giving regular feedback on progress of daily tasks
• Assist other artisans when necessary to ensure timeous completion of tasks
