Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor (GEF), this position is responsible for providing effective support to the operations team, ensuring optimal plant availability through electrical and mechanical support.
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
- Ensure application of and adherence to the Maintenance Information System (Service Manager) and ensure all assets are clearly marked and controlled with Asset Register.
- Attend to breakdowns and prioritize jobs promptly.
- Plan and perform routine services, repairs, and preventative maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment in a professional and cost-effective manner, and in a timely fashion.
- Apply sound human resource principles, administration, and control procedures to meet performance objectives.
- Ensure safety and housekeeping standards meet the Occupational Health and Safety Act and comply with all applicable ISO system requirements, with continual improvement of these systems.
- Maintain specified, approved, and contractual stock levels.
- Monitor and report on the condition of electro-mechanical plant.
- Assist with specifications, sourcing, quality control of equipment required/refurbished/repaired, as well as pricing, tendering, and implementation on new electrical, mechanical, and civil installations.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
Qualified Millwright with apprenticeship or equivalent training.Require a section 13 or section 26D certificate
Minimum of five years relevant experience in maintaining large electrical and mechanical installations, with a strong electrical background and troubleshooting skills.Experience with SCADA and PLC control systems, and field control instrumentation, is advantageous.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of instrumentation and controls principles and practices, with awareness of operational and safety procedures related to maintenance activities.Ability to read, interpret, and understand data.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Basic understanding of the OHS Act and application thereof.Knowledge of VSD applications, medium voltage switchgear operation and maintenance, and 22KV overhead power line inspections and maintenance.BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES

Medically fit and able to work in a water treatment plant environment, exposed to noise, vibration, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, solvents, toxic materials, and hazardous chemicals within permissible exposure limits.Able to work in various weather and temperature conditions, confined spaces, at heights, and on different surfaces.Physical ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and operating motorized equipment.Good vision and hearing, with or without correction, to operate equipment and read documents.Own transportation and willingness to travel.Own accommodation within the region.Willing to perform standby duties after hours and on weekends.
