Job description

Our client, Africa’s biggest producer in their industry, seeks a qualified Millwright to take up this 3-month fixed term contract, with the intention to possibly appoint permanent.

POSITION INFO :

Minimum Job Requirements :

  • Apprenticeship completed at registered provider.
  • Trade Tested Millwright.
  • N3+ in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Sugar industry experience essential.
  • Experience with fault-finding and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with electrical fault-finding and maintenance of electrical equipment and circuits.
  • Understanding of industrial instrumentation; PLC’s and SCADA systems.
  • SAP training and experience, a strong advantage.

Responsibilities :

Reporting to the Plant Manager :

  • Inspect plant equipment and report defects.
  • Maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Liaise with operations to plan equipment maintenance.
  • Liaise with external service providers to procure goods and services.
  • Supervise external service providers when on-site.
  • Review and action maintenance requests on SAP.

Key Skills :

  • Understanding of safety systems (lock-out / solation, risk assessments).
  • Working in food industry and FSSC compliant industry.
  • Problem-solving and root cause analysis.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
