Our client based in Germiston is seeking a Millwright to join their team. Responsible for monitoring departmental compliance with HSE cardinal rules and reinforcing the department’s safety culture.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Health and Safety responsibilities.
- Monitor compliance with HSE cardinal rules and reinforce safety culture.
- Implement set SOPs.
- Report USACs, near misses, incidents, and injuries to the Line Manager and SHEQ.
- Inspect safety devices as per PM schedules and keep records (E/Stops, speed monitors, rope switches, Castell key units, etc.).
- Adhere to LOTO procedures before working on equipment.
- Follow and review risk assessment processes and inspections before shifts.
- Work closely with the SHEQ officer on safety measures.
- Follow and implement departmental baseline risk assessment recommendations.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Regularly check safety devices and keep proper records.
- Maintain lighting to meet legal illumination requirements through regular maintenance.
- Implement the 5S principle in the area of responsibility.
- Perform lubrication, cleaning, and repairs of tools, machines, and equipment.
- Attend to breakdowns and installations in real-time both on-site and off-site.
- Inspect and maintain piping, tanks, and other equipment.
- Carry out preventative and predictive maintenance.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot pumps, fans, bearings, and conveyance systems.
- Ensure plant equipment integrity and electrical functionality at 97%.
- Ensure calibration of weighing equipment.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report on the same day.
- Assist in planning maintenance and repairs, including shutdowns.
- Manage spare parts with proper documentation.
- Inspect and service process equipment, laboratory, office spaces, and utilities.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis for equipment failures and ensure timely actions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Requirements:
- Trade Test Millwright/Electrical or related qualification.
- Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing setup.
- Basic management and supervisory skills.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Competency in Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
