Job description

Introduction

Pies and Pastries Linbro, located in Johannesburg, is a highly automated factory specializing in muffins and other baked goods. The company is recognized as a leader in the South African food service market, offering innovative products that emphasize convenience and ease of preparation.

Responsibilities
  1. Supervise the Handyman and allocate tasks accordingly.
  2. Identify potential equipment breakdowns and conduct maintenance to minimize downtime.
  3. Perform electrical and mechanical fault finding.
  4. Accurately complete administrative schedules, job cards, and work orders.
  5. Maintain production and facilities equipment effectively.
  6. Deploy maintenance assistants efficiently.
  7. Ensure all planned maintenance schedules are up to date.
  8. Adhere to departmental performance targets and quality standards set by management.
  9. Plan and coordinate maintenance projects.
  10. Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
  11. Assist with breakdowns and after-hours call-outs or standby duties.
  12. Ensure operational effectiveness of machinery within your area of responsibility.
  13. Maximize machinery uptime.
  14. Ensure health and safety compliance within the area.
  15. Adhere to GMP standards and keep the Maintenance Foreman informed of daily operations.
  16. Participate in supporting company food safety and quality objectives.
  17. Report food safety issues to the QA Manager for action.
  18. Manage services such as steam, air, electricity, and ammonia.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Trade qualification, preferably as a Millwright.
  • Senior Certificate and N6 in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in FMCG manufacturing.
  • Experience with PLC equipment, drives, and automation.
  • Refrigeration and ammonia plant experience is desirable.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of production processes and maintenance planning (scheduled, predictive, preventive).
  • Good communication skills and a proven track record.
  • Knowledge of FSSC principles and MS Office.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Strong understanding of environmental, health, and safety standards.
