Job description

A professional who installs, dismantles, repairs, reassembles, and moves machinery.

They perform these duties in factories and power plants.

Millwrights are also responsible for the creation of maintenance plans to keep the machines running as efficiently as possible. They can also be called in on an emergency basis if equipment breaks unexpectedly. They help get the machine repaired and running again, helping to reduce downtime for the company.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Attend to breakdowns.
  2. Preventative action plans to minimise breakages.
  3. Regular inspections on equipment to identify hazards, defects or need for repair.
  4. Attend to scheduled maintenance and shutdown.
  5. Assist with cost estimates and drawings / preliminary sketches.
  6. Install / connect new equipment such as PLC, Inverter variable drives, and programming knowledge.
  7. Ensuring compliance to electrical standards.
  8. Troubleshooting and repairs to all electronic, electrical, and computer-based equipment.
  9. Ability to analyse electronic circuits.
  10. Conduct fault finding, testing and repairs.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Electrical knowledge is advantageous.
  2. Computer Literacy in MS Office.
  3. Grade 12 certificate.
  4. At least 3 years' experience in a production and industrial environment.
  5. Experience on Pneumatics and Hydraulics.
  6. Mechanical skills and understanding of Conveyor systems.
  7. Knowledge of both Single phase VAC and 3 phase systems up to VAC electrical systems.
  8. Knowledge of process systems (including electronics, control valves, PLCs, software and hardware, Mechanical experience).
  9. Able to read and interpret instructions, setup procedures, electrical drawings, and manuals.
  10. Excellent mechanical knowledge of machines and tools in a factory environment.
  11. Ability to problem solve.
  12. Able to communicate clearly and effectively.
  13. Committed to safety.
  14. Highly motivated.
  15. Willing to work shifts.
  16. Ability to perform fast and effective electrical and mechanical fault finding.
  17. Sound organizational and interpersonal skills.
  18. Must be reliable.
