Well-established automotive company based in Durban is seeking a qualified and experienced Millwright to join their dynamic team. The applicant will be responsible for conducting mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs on plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Requirements :
- Grade 12 with mathematics and science
- Section 13 red seal Millwright trade test
- N4 electro-mechanical certificate
- 5 years’ experience in heavy industry
KPI's :
Maintenance Process (Scheduled Preventative Maintenance) :
- Receive maintenance schedules, plan, and execute before they expire. Interpret instructions and plan maintenance and repair work.
- Inspect tooling and determine spares and consumables requirements.
- Generate job requisitions for scheduled maintenance work (type of repair or maintenance, spares, quantities, time, etc.).
- Transport tools, equipment, and spares to the work site.
- Isolate equipment, perform lockouts, complete the LOTO register, and make the work area safe.
- Complete the Contractors Permit to Work before contractors commence work on site.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities.
- Perform changeovers in the production environment.
- Count stock for a stock take integrity check, checking spares condition during the count.
- Record all scheduled maintenance in the Maintenance Connection system in a timely manner to prolong equipment life and prevent unplanned maintenance.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the workshop and work area, adhering to 5S standards.
- Perform plant start-ups, planning well in advance to ensure readiness for production.
- Track and record personal daily hours to achieve the KPI of 75% artisan utilization.
Maintenance Process (Breakdown) :
- Attend to machine breakdowns of mechanical/electrical nature for all equipment under engineering control.
- Update responsible persons on repair progress.
- Escalate unresolved problems or breakdowns.
- Record all breakdowns in the Maintenance Connection system to aid root cause analysis and KPI calculation.
Mechanical Maintenance :
- Perform routine maintenance, align machines, diagnose and repair faults during production.
- Commission and refurbish machines/equipment.
- Operate and monitor various machines like drilling, lathe, milling, surface grinding, and EDM to produce components.
- Perform welding and grinding tasks as required.
- Maintain mechanical equipment including drives, piping, seals, bearings, brakes, clutches, heat exchangers, pumps, conveyor systems, compressors, and gearboxes.
Electrical Maintenance :
- Design and construct electrical circuits, install wiring, and fault find on low and high voltage systems.
- Install, inspect, test, and replace electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (Siemens) and ABB Robots, and program ABB Robots.
Fabrication :
- Cut, drill, punch, and assemble fabrication materials using powered machinery.
- Perform manual cutting, resistance welding, and various welding techniques.
- Remove metals using oxy-fuel and arc gouging processes.
Instrumentation Maintenance :
- Construct electronic circuits, install impulse lines, and maintain instrumentation equipment for flow, level, pressure, and temperature.
- Perform soldering and de-soldering procedures.
Post Maintenance :
- Test and commission machinery prior to handover.
- Complete maintenance records and communicate work status.
- Identify additional work or spares needed and inform relevant personnel.
- Clean up and inform responsible persons upon completion.
Material Handling :
- Sling loads, operate cranes, hoists, and forklifts.
Engineering Projects :
- Contribute to project initiation, scope, and change control.
- Assist in cost estimation, monitoring, and control.
Project Planning and Management :
- Schedule, evaluate, and communicate project schedules.
- Manage project risks and supervise technical project teams if requested.
Project Administration :
- Support project meetings and workshops.
Continuous Improvement :
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Reporting :
- Complete maintenance timesheets detailing work, time, and materials used.
