Job description

Responsible for installation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of stationary industrial machinery, as well as mechanical equipment in factories, production plants and recreational facilities. To maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Read diagrams and schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures.
  • Operate rigging equipment to pick and place machinery and parts, fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach and align motors, connect coupling and belts.
  • Perform predictive and operation maintenance using laser alignment tooling, vibrational analysis and destructive/non-destructive testing, service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and may do some tack welding, fabrication of machinery and equipment.
  • Managing the layout and placement of equipment and machinery in factory settings to ensure minimum downtime.
  • Identifying and repairing problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts.
  • Dismantling older machines and replacing them with new ones.
  • Overseeing preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts.
  • Using machinery or equipment, such as forklifts, to move mechanical parts.
  • Conduct or oversee commissioning tests according to specifications.
  • Inspection of machines and equipment at planned intervals.
  • Repairs of any damage or faults found.
  • Do preventative maintenance at planned intervals.
  • Attend to breakdowns on machines as soon as possible.
  • Install and commission systems.
  • Inspect and repair any faults/hot connections on the electrical system.
  • Execute preventative maintenance schedules on electrical equipment.
  • Ensure that maintenance on machines, equipment and buildings are performed on a continuous basis.
  • Responsible for shutdown work and electrical maintenance on machines.
  • Responsible for corrective actions in the event of breakdowns.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • National Diploma in Mechatronics Electrical Engineering with Millwright trade Test.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ related working experience within a Manufacturing domain.
  • Advanced Computer literacy (e.g. CAD, MS Excel).
  • Must have own transport.
  • Must be available to work on standby.
  • Demonstrate good planning and organization skills.
  • Trustworthy and Honest.
  • Be able to work in a pressured environment.
  • Be able to understand, complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
