Job summary

Samancor Chrome Ltd. in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, seeks a senior maintenance and capital projects leader responsible for the Diesel Workshop, maintenance and reliability, and water infrastructure management.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess level of issue-based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes.
• Apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements).
• Manage SHEQ compliance within the Section through effective use of the Toolbox.
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status.
• Ensure an enabling climate/culture and manage labour stability by minimising turnover, with targets.
• Conduct recruitment interviews and coach/counsel people to improve performance.
• Ensure customer satisfaction and liaise with customers to define annual SLAs and ensure services are delivered.
• Maximise Diesel Workshop availability; manage maintenance on dams and surface water reticulation for environmental compliance.
• Support Engineering Manager with ad hoc maintenance investigations and implement the maintenance strategy.
• Investigate failures and conduct Root Cause Analysis.
• Develop and optimise maintenance plan; audit assets and documentation for standardisation.
• Compile capital applications; maximise project efficiency and profitability; determine project specs and materials; manage full project lifecycle.
• Support the Engineering Manager in legally assigned duties.
• Foster continuous improvement and development of electrical systems and installations best practice.
• Manage Section costs and prepare engineering budget; monitor variances and costs.

Job description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Responsible for a wide range of multidisciplinary capital projects and investigations; the day-to-day management of the Diesel Workshop, related yellow machine maintenance and reliability as well as the management of site water balances and dams’ infrastructure. To support and assist with Legal compliance relating to the OHS Act requirements.

Maintenance Support

• Maximise Surface Mobile Equipment availability specifically for the Diesel Workshop
• Manage maintenance on Dams and pumps and surface water reticulation to ensure Environmental compliance
• Support Engineering Manager with ad hoc maintenance investigations in all MFC areas and the implementing of the overall maintenance strategy

Solve Problems And Implement Solutions

• Investigate failures and conduct Root Cause Analysis

• Ensure strict adherence to maintenance work management principles
• Manage the Engineering Assets to ensure that they produce at their designed capacity and are periodically refurbished to their original condition to ensure optimal life
• Develop and optimise the maintenance plan
• Ensure strict adherence to the relevant engineering standards and specifications
• Periodically audit the asset and documentation to obtain maximum standardisation of spares and new plant installations on the site
