Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Metrologist to join the Uitenhage team.

Responsibilities:

• Laboratory Management: Supervise daily laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols. Oversee maintenance, quality control, and validation of laboratory instruments and procedures.
• Follow up on any outstanding customer issues.
• Read drawings and designing of fixtures.
• Quality Assurance: Implement and manage quality control systems to ensure continuous production of products that meet or exceed customer expectations. Conduct process audits to verify accuracy and compliance with established procedures.
• Team Leadership: Provide clinical and administrative oversight to laboratory personnel, including mentoring, training, and performance evaluations. Establish training goals for new hires and ensure timely completion of departmental reviews.

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years experience in metrology lab management in the automotive industry.
• Injection moulding experience preferred.
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and control plan preparation.
• Project experience.
• Quality Planning, MSA, Dimensional Analysis, and Capability Studies experience.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Root Cause Analysis.
• Proficiency in relevant software tools such as Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and data analysis programs.
• Ability to read drawings.
• Tooling background will be an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
