The Opportunity

Join Pāmu, New Zealand’s leader in sustainable and innovative farming, as our Methane Facility Coordinator based at St Kilda Farm north of Taupō.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the future of low-emissions agriculture by supporting the operation of our purpose-built methane and feed intake research barn.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the Methane Facility Manager, you’ll help ensure the facility operates efficiently. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be actively involved in all aspects of farm operations, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of research projects
  • Operating feeding and monitoring technology
  • Undertaking and documenting daily equipment checks and data recording
  • Following animal welfare and health & safety protocols
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Representing Pāmu to visitors
  • Standing in for the Methane Facility Manager as required

You may also contribute to standard farming operations on other nearby Pāmu farms as time allows.

This is a part-time position of 24 hours per week – three days per week rostered in with Facility Manager to support operational requirements.

The Methane Facility

Located on St Kilda Farm – about thirty minutes from Taupō, the methane barn is part of a research initiative that supports cutting-edge livestock breeding and emissions reduction work.

About You

You may have experience in farming, science or technology – but that’s not essential. What matters most is that you're practical, follow process and are reliable. You’ll be someone who enjoys hands-on work, is comfortable around animals, and is curious about how research and farming can work together.

Essential Skills And Attributes

  • A willingness to learn and contribute to a dynamic, research-focused farm environment
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot and resolve inconsistencies
  • Good computer literacy, especially in Excel and data entry systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence

Preferred Experience (but Not Required)

  • Familiarity with livestock data systems
  • Experience working with tractors and feeding out implements
  • An understanding of animal breeding programmes or agricultural research
  • A relevant qualification in agriculture, or related field
