Placements24 is seeking a senior Metallurgist for a hybrid role near Klerksdorp, North West. You will lead process optimization to boost recovery, reduce reagents, and cut costs across mineral processing plants.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's or Master's in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering, at least 7 years in mineral processing, and hands-on experience with flotation, leaching, or smelting. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mineral processing and metallurgy, focusing on process development and optimization.
• In-depth knowledge of metallurgical processes (flotation, leaching, smelting, refining).
• Proficiency in METSIM, HSC Chemistry and statistical analysis tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze plant performance data to identify opportunities for metallurgical improvement.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize recovery, reduce reagents, and improve product quality.
• Conduct pilot plant testing and laboratory analysis for new processes and modifications.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and geology teams to implement changes.
• Troubleshoot complex metallurgical issues and guide operating staff.
• Stay current with metallurgical advances relevant to mining operations at Klerksdorp.
• Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and presentations for management.
• Ensure all changes comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
