Job description

Ivanplats is looking for a Metallurgical Production Superintendent (REF: IVP-PL-2503)

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • Relevant NQF Level 7 qualification related to Metallurgical Engineering/Chemical Engineering (Advantageous)
  • 10 years PGM plant experience, of which five (5) years must be in a supervisory role (shift foreman)
  • Control room experience
  • Must reside within the Mokopane area or be willing to relocate
  • Valid South African Driving License
Work Experience
  • Proven plant operational experience in PGM plant crushing, grinding, flotation, and filtration
  • Diagnostic skills, including root cause analysis, trend analysis, and problem solving
  • Team leading and supervisory skills
  • Valid medical certificate or be medically fit to obtain one
  • Computer literacy with Scada, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet
Key Responsibilities
  • Commissioning of the Platreef Concentrator
  • Providing leadership by planning, organising, and controlling plant activities
  • Managing production teams and ensuring adherence to SHE and OHS principles
  • Performing standby duties
  • Monitoring production recovery and quality, implementing necessary adjustments
  • Implementing and monitoring KPIs for continuous improvement
  • Achieving production targets
  • Planning and executing plant maintenance
  • Identifying gaps in procedures and processes
  • Communicating production targets and planning accordingly
  • Ensuring compliance with SOPs
  • Conducting risk assessments and toolbox talks
  • Providing relevant training to personnel
  • Ensuring compliance with HR policies and standards
  • Providing coaching and mentorship
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues
  • Applying Ivanplats principles to ensure safety and zero harm
