Job summary

Massmart is seeking a Buyer to implement category strategies, develop assortments, and negotiate terms that optimise sales, margin and stock turn across the assigned portfolio.

You will manage end-to-end category execution, including product selection, pricing, supplier management and promotions, while collaborating with Planning, Supply Chain, Marketing, Pricing and Store Operations to optimise the merchandise lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Retail/ Commerce, Business/ Supply Chain related qualification
• 4+ years buying or merchandise experience in retail/FMCG/wholesale
• Experience using ERP and merchandising systems (SAP, JDA, BW, or equivalent)

The role is also responsible for end-to-end category execution, including product selection, pricing implementation, supplier management, promotional input, and stock optimisation; ensuring that customer value, competitiveness, and profitability objectives are met, while working cross-functionally with Planning, Supply Chain, Marketing, Pricing, and Store Operations to deliver seamless merchandise lifecycle management.
