Systems / Diagnostic Technician – Vereeniging

If you are a qualified Mercedes Benz Systems / Diagnostic Technician, then our client is looking for you to join their team.

Your role will focus on diagnosing, repairing and maintaining the intricate electronic systems and components of these premium vehicles. Responsible for ensuring these systems operate effectively and efficiently to meet the high standards of MB engineering.

POSITION INFO : Duties include

  • Diagnostics: Utilize specialized diagnostic equipment and software to identify and troubleshoot electronic and computerized systems within Mercedes-Benz vehicles. This includes but is not limited to engine management systems, transmission control systems, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), SRS (Supplemental Restraint System), ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), and multimedia/navigation systems.
  • System Repairs: Perform repairs and adjustments to electronic systems and components following manufacturer specifications and technical guidelines. This may involve replacing faulty sensors, actuators, modules, or wiring harnesses, as well as reprogramming or updating control units as required.
  • Software Updates and Coding: Stay up to date with the latest software releases and updates from Mercedes-Benz and perform programming, coding, and configuration of vehicle control units using specialized diagnostic tools and software. Ensure that software installations and updates are performed accurately and safely.
  • Integration and Calibration: Assist in the integration and calibration of new electronic systems or components into Mercedes-Benz vehicles during assembly or retrofitting. Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of diagnostic findings, repair procedures, parts used, and software updates performed for each vehicle. Document any technical issues or concerns encountered during diagnosis and repair.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as an automotive technician, specializing in electronic systems and diagnostics, preferably with Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
  • Proficiency in using advanced diagnostic equipment and software, such as Mercedes-Benz XENTRY/DAS, STAR Diagnosis, and other manufacturer-specific tools.
  • Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems, CAN bus communication protocols, and vehicle network architecture.
  • Certification as an Automotive Service Technician (AST) or equivalent qualification in automotive electronics or mechatronics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to diagnose complex electronic issues accurately.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other technicians and engineers.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
