REQUIREMENTS

LLB or higher law degree admitted as an attorney, registered with Law Society of South Africa experience in performance and litigation matters , experience serving in audit and performance committee.

EXPERIENCE

Should have at least five years’ senior municipal experience or should have served as a member of Audit and Performance committee for at least six years.

DUTIES:

The members of the Audit and Performance Committee will be expected to serve in the shared Audit and performance committee of the following municipality under Nkangala District Municipality namely.

• Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, Victor Khanye Local Municipality, Victor Khanye Local Municipality, Dr. JS Moroka Local Municipality, Emalahleni Local Municipality and Thembisile Hani Local Municipality.

The Duties will entail the following but not limited to.

• Shall assist the Shared municipalities under Nkangala District Municipality in the following duties.
• Internal financial control and internal audits;
• Advise on the adequacy, reliability, and accuracy of financial reporting.
• Advise on performance reporting on quarterly basis
• Assist with the litigation matters
• May be required to serve on disciplinary misconduct board
• Performance evaluation; and
• Any other issues referred to it by the municipality or municipal entity;
• Review the annual financial statements to provide the council of the municipality or, in the case of a municipal entity, the council of the parent municipality and the board of directors of the entity, with authoritative of and credible view of the financial of the municipality or municipal entity, its efficiency and effectiveness and its overall level of compliance with this Act, the Annual Division of Revenue Act and any other applicable legislation;

Respond to the council on any issues raised by the Auditor-General in the audit report

Carry out such investigations into the financial affairs of the municipality or municipal entity as the council of the municipality, or in the case of the municipal entity, the council of the parent municipality or the board of directors of the entity, may request; and

Perform such other functions as may be prescribed
