The ideal candidate has 3+ years in medical writing within pharma, strong knowledge of ICH guidelines, and excellent communication skills. On-site meetings in Gauteng and flexible remote work for select tasks are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a life science, medical, or communications-related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a Medical Writer in pharma preferred.
• Proven ability to write high-quality scientific and regulatory documents.
• Strong understanding of clinical research processes and pharmaceutical development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Author, edit, and review medical and regulatory documents (CSRs, protocols, brochures, submissions).
• Ensure documents are scientifically accurate, clear, and compliant with guidelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (clinical ops, regulatory affairs, R&D, marketing).
• Manage document timelines and ensure timely delivery of high-quality documents.
• Contribute to publication plans and author manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.

About the Role

Our client, a leading pharmaceutical company, is seeking a talented Medical Writer to join their expanding team in Randburg . This role utilizes a hybrid work model, offering the flexibility to work remotely for specific tasks while ensuring on-site presence for key meetings and collaborative sessions at our Gauteng office. The Medical Writer will be responsible for developing clear, accurate, and scientifically sound documents for a variety of audiences, including regulatory authorities, healthcare professionals, and patients. Your expertise in translating complex scientific and clinical data into well-structured documents will be essential for regulatory submissions, publications, and internal communications. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled writer passionate about medical communications and contributing to the pharmaceutical development process.

Key Responsibilities

• Author, edit, and review a range of medical and regulatory documents, including clinical study reports, protocols, investigator brochures, and regulatory submission documents.
• Ensure all documents are scientifically accurate, clear, concise, and compliant with relevant guidelines and company standards.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including clinical operations, regulatory affairs, R&D, and marketing.
• Manage document development timelines and ensure timely delivery of high-quality documents.
• Contribute to the development of publication plans and author manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
• Maintain a strong understanding of therapeutic areas and relevant scientific literature.
• Ensure consistency in terminology and style across all assigned documents.
• Participate in internal and external meetings related to document development.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and evolving regulatory requirements for medical writing.
• Review and interpret complex clinical trial data to inform document content.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a life science, medical, or communications-related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Writer, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Proven ability to write high-quality scientific and regulatory documents.
• Excellent understanding of clinical research processes and pharmaceutical development.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using relevant software, including Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, managing time and priorities efficiently.
• Must be available to attend the Randburg office for essential meetings and team collaboration.
• Knowledge of ICH guidelines and regulatory submission requirements is highly desirable.
