Job description

• BSc Honours with 4 years experience in microbiology haematology or clinical chemistry. Relevant HPSCA registration. ISO15189 experience. European passport holder.

Description : A medical testing laboratory requires a MedicalScientist to join their team. Key duties will include : Assist in the provision of a highquality clinical diagnostic service for patients. Provide timely analysis of patient laboratory results. Assist in the authorisation and reporting process for laboratory reports and support the clinical team in communicating relevant results to service users. Liaise with colleagues in the exploitation of new technology to improve service provision and in doing so participate in method development and implementation of new techniques. Support positive changes in technology and to assist in the implementation and operation of these changes. Design and participate in verification and validation of new laboratory methods. Participate in ensuring appropriate and prompt handling and analysis of all human specimens. Participate in the writing of standard operating procedures. Report / ensure that any defect which may affect safety at work is brought to the attention of the designated supervisor. Respect information obtained in the course of duties performed. Refrain from disclosing such information without the consent of the employee / patient or the person entitled to act on their behalf except where disclosure is required by law or by the order of a Court. Supervise the work of more junior laboratory staff. Participate in annual reviews and always adhere to company policies. Participate in and maintain continuing professional development (CPD). Provide training and educational opportunities for the scientific laboratory staff. Comply with Health and Safety requirements.

Requirements : BSc Honours with at least 4 years experience in microbiology haematology or clinical chemistry. Previous experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory or research laboratory required. HPSCA registration as Medical Scientist Biomedical Scientist Clinical Biochemist Clinical Scientist or equivalent essential. ISO15189 experience would be a distinct advantage. European passport holder.

Additional Requirements : Fluent in written and spoken English. Strong interpersonal skills. Pays attention to details.
