• At least 2 years of experience in a dermatology practice setting.
• Familiarity with safety hazards and precautions.
• Dermatology experience is a plus.

Job description

We are searching for an energetic and upbeat Medical Assistant to perform various office and clinical duties to keep our busy Dripping Springs office running efficiently.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Serve as a patient advocate during exams and treatments.
2. Chart for the provider during patient visits in real time.
3. Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including allergies and medication list.
4. Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician.
5. Ensure appropriate consent has been obtained before treatment or procedures.
6. Conduct patient assessments and gather medical information for referral to the physician.
7. Guide patients from the exam room to the next station, such as treatment or appointment desk.
8. Prepare and stock exam rooms, order supplies, and maintain/monitor drug samples.
9. Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
10. Perform lab procedures, process lab specimens, and file reports accurately.
11. Maintain exam room disinfection protocols.
12. Assist with dermatology procedures.
13. Practice standard precautions, including hand washing and biohazard disposal.
14. Keep a clean work environment and restock supplies as needed.
15. Under supervision, communicate test results to patients.
16. Document care delivery and physician orders accurately.
17. Record relevant information in medical records for review and signature.
18. Relate assessment and treatment plans to patients or families under physician supervision.
19. Assist other staff and team members as needed.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in a dermatology practice setting.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with EMA EMR is a plus.
• Understanding of safety hazards and precautions.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or in a team.
• Dermatology experience is a plus.
