Mecad Systems in Durban is seeking a technically curious Mechatronics Engineer with a foundation in mechanical, electronic and software systems. The role involves understanding and operating footwear manufacturing machinery, with comprehensive training to drive technology implementation, process improvement and innovation.

You will support production teams across mechanical, electronic and software domains, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to automation projects.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechatronics Engineering or related technical field.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electronic and software systems.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good computer literacy.
  • Hands-on and practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Footwear machinery experience is not essential – full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Learn footwear manufacturing machinery and production processes.
  • Provide technical support across mechanical, electronic and software systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machinery and technical issues.
  • Work closely with production teams to improve machine performance.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce new technologies and automation.
  • Assist with implementation and integration of new equipment and technologies.
  • Support continuous improvement and process optimisation.
  • Liaise with equipment suppliers and technical service providers.
  • Assist with machinery upgrades and technology projects.
  • Maintain technical documentation and procedures.

Job description

The ideal candidate will have a background in Mechatronics Engineering or a related technical field, with knowledge of mechanical systems, electronics and software/technology. The successful candidate will be trained to understand and operate the company's specialised footwear manufacturing machinery and will progressively take on greater responsibility for technology implementation, process improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
