The Mechatronics Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, and automated systems within the workshop and broader manufacturing facility. In addition to general maintenance, you will play a key role in optimising and enhancing automation processes. This includes identifying and implementing improvements that increase manufacturing speed, reliability, and overall efficiency. You will work closely with production teams to innovate and refine systems, ensuring continuous improvement. Occasionally, you will also be required to work at heights for maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and automated systems, including CNC machinery.
Conduct maintenance and repair work on FANUC, Siemens PLC systems, Peddinghaus, and Ficep machinery (experience with these systems is a bonus).
Carry out general maintenance across the entire manufacturing facility, including electrical and mechanical systems.
Identify opportunities for improving automation systems and manufacturing processes.
Provide ideas, design, and implement new systems to enhance speed, reliability, and efficiency in production.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and automation teams to drive continuous improvement in facility operations.
Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
Conduct maintenance at heights as required, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve mechanical, electrical, and software issues on automated systems quickly.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and generate reports on equipment performance, improvements, and efficiency gains.
Requirements:
Proven experience in a mechatronics maintenance role, ideally within a manufacturing or structural steel fabrication environment.
Strong electrical and mechanical skills, including experience in millwright duties.
Solid understanding of CNC machinery, with experience in Siemens PLC, Peddinghaus, and Ficep systems considered a strong advantage.
Hands-on experience with automation systems, with a focus on identifying and implementing process improvements.
General maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and infrastructure repairs.
Ability to work at heights and safely perform overhead maintenance.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and implement improvements effectively.
Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in an industrial setting.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a focus on collaboration for continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Millwright, or a related field.
Additional certifications in PLC systems, CNC machinery, or process improvement are a plus.
