Placements24 is seeking an innovative Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to join their technology development team. The position is fully remote with occasional site visits to Sandton, and involves the complete design lifecycle of complex mechanical systems from concept to prototyping and validation.

The successful candidate will lead system design, perform advanced CAD modeling and simulations, and collaborate with electrical and software teams to ensure seamless integration across projects.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical systems design.
• Expertise in 3D modeling software (Inventor, Fusion 360).
• Strong understanding of mechatronics, robotics, and automation principles.
• Proven ability to manage design projects from concept to realization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptual design and development of novel mechanical systems and subsystems.
• Utilise advanced CAD tools to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings.
• Perform engineering calculations, simulations (FEA, CFD), and analysis to validate design performance.
• Oversee the fabrication of prototypes and conduct rigorous testing and validation processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and software developers, to ensure system integration.
• Contribute to technical documentation, reports, and patent applications.
