Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for our Richards Bay facility. You will oversee mechanical integrity, implement preventive maintenance programs, and respond to breakdowns to maximize uptime and safety.

With 5+ years in industrial maintenance and a relevant engineering qualification, you will work with Operations and Engineering teams to optimize maintenance plans, read technical drawings, and manage spare parts while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Competenze

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related trade.
• At least 5 years in mechanical maintenance in industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and rotating equipment.
• Experience with CMMS and reading technical drawings.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on Richards Bay environment.

About the Role

Our client requires a diligent Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to oversee and maintain the mechanical integrity of plant equipment and machinery at their Richards Bay facility. This role is critical for ensuring operational uptime and safety by implementing robust preventive maintenance programs and responding effectively to breakdowns. You will work closely with the operations and engineering teams to minimize downtime, optimize maintenance schedules, and improve the overall reliability of mechanical systems within a demanding industrial environment. This hands-on role requires a strong understanding of industrial machinery and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules for all mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Conduct regular inspections of machinery and systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Manage spare parts inventory and oversee the procurement of necessary components.
• Supervise maintenance technicians and provide technical guidance as needed.

Requirements
