Mechanical Foreman (JB5152)
Lusaka, Zambia
R65 – 70 000 CTC per month. Benefits include: Accommodation, transport allowance, and food allowance.
2-Year Fixed Term Contract


Seeking an experienced Mechanical Foreman for a 2-year infrastructure project in Lusaka, Zambia, focused on the replacement of sewer pipes, pumps, and pump stations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, particularly water and sewer pumps. This role requires a strong mechanical background, leadership skills, and the ability to manage on-site teams in a demanding project environment.


Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience specifically in installing water and sewer pumps
  3. Minimum 5 – 8 years of experience in mechanical systems, infrastructure projects, and pump station operations
  4. Hands-on experience with pumping systems, pipe installations, valve operations, and sewage infrastructure is essential
  5. Expertise in pump maintenance, pipeline installations, hydraulic systems, mechanical troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance
  6. Knowledge of safety standards, industry best practices, and mechanical regulations
  7. Experience supervising mechanical teams, subcontractors, and on-site operations
  8. Willing to work on a rotation schedule of 12 weeks on-site, 2 weeks off

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and manage the installation, repair, and maintenance of sewer and water pumps as part of the infrastructure project
  2. Ensure all mechanical work complies with technical specifications, safety regulations, and project deadlines
  3. Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the mechanical team, ensuring efficiency and quality control
  4. Conduct mechanical inspections, troubleshooting, and problem-solving for pump stations and pipelines
  5. Assist in planning and scheduling mechanical work to align with the overall project timeline
  6. Work closely with the electrical, civil, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems
  7. Maintain detailed reports, documentation, and progress updates on mechanical installations and repairs
  8. Coordinate materials procurement and ensure the availability of required mechanical components
  9. Train and mentor junior mechanical staff and local workforce as needed
  10. Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies on-site
