Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter for our Randburg-based manufacturing and maintenance team. You will interpret blueprints, assemble components, install and repair mechanical systems, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and proficient with various hand and power tools, with a relevant trade qualification. A stable, well-equipped workshop environment and safety training are provided.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their manufacturing and maintenance team in Randburg . This role is crucial for the assembly, installation, and repair of mechanical systems and machinery. You will be responsible for interpreting blueprints, assembling components, performing adjustments, and ensuring all mechanical installations meet stringent safety and operational standards. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and possesses a strong mechanical aptitude to effectively contribute to the smooth operation of our production facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical systems and machinery according to blueprints and specifications.
• Dismantle, repair, and replace worn or defective parts of machinery.
• Perform routine maintenance and lubrication on mechanical equipment.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools and measuring instruments accurately.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective repair solutions.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company procedures.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar mechanical assembly role.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings , schematics, and technical manuals.
• Proficiency with various hand and power tools relevant to mechanical fitting.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and machinery operation.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Relevant trade qualification or certification is highly preferred.
