The successful candidate will join the optomechanical assembly, integration and test team as a parts preparation technician and can expect to be immersed in a fast-paced and challenging technical environment which offers the opportunity to push the boundaries of what is achievable with optical payloads in the CubeSat domain.

Job Purpose:

Perform incoming inspection, parts cleaning, parts preparation and coating of all mechanical components received for the production of high precision optical payloads for space borne applications.

Key Performance Areas and Responsibilities:

1. Perform incoming inspection of all mechanical components received by comparing measurements to engineering drawings.
2. Responsible for completing incoming inspection documentation and ensuring all documentation, data, measurement reports, etc., are received and stored in the correct locations.
3. Responsible for performing detailed cleaning of all received mechanical parts for use in the space industry.
4. Responsible for assisting with masking, painting and demasking of relevant mechanical components.
5. Perform various meticulous part preparation procedures on mechanical and optical components.
6. Responsible for completing work instructions, test reports and other production documentation for all tasks performed by the employee.
7. Complete detailed production documentation of all measurement and process results.
8. Assist engineers with detailed integration of space-borne optical systems.

Note: Due to the nature and variety of Simera Sense's projects, additional responsibilities can be added from time to time.

Required Qualifications:

Higher Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Required Experience:

Good mechanical knowledge and understanding of technical drawings.

Recommendations:

National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Previous experience working in a high-precision mechanical field is preferred.

Previous experience working with mechanical component inspection and acceptance.

Special requirement(s):

Valid driver's license and own transport essential.

Have a good mechanical aptitude.

Be precise and disciplined.

Display a high level of attention to detail.

Work well within a team format.

Be able to execute procedures very accurately while working without supervision.
