Mechanical Engineering Technician

Mechanical Engineering Technician required in Somerset West.

A renowned Engineering company is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technician (Parts Preparation Technician) to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in the Helderberg Area.

Position Overview:

Perform incoming inspection, parts cleaning, parts preparation and coating of all mechanical components received for the production of high precision optical payloads for space borne applications.

Requirements:

• Higher Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Good English communication skills.
• Good mechanical knowledge and understanding of technical drawings.
• Valid driver’s license and own transport essential.

Recommendations:

• National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a high-precision mechanical field is preferred.
• Previous experience working with mechanical component inspection and acceptance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform incoming inspection of all mechanical components received by comparing measurements to engineering drawings.
• Responsible for completing incoming inspection documentation and ensuring all documentation, data, measurement reports, etc., are received and stored in the correct locations.
• Responsible for performing detailed cleaning of all received mechanical parts for use in the space industry.
• Responsible for assisting with masking, painting and demasking of relevant mechanical components.
• Perform various meticulous part preparation procedures on mechanical and optical components.
• Responsible for completing work instructions, test reports and other production documentation for all tasks performed by the employee.
• Complete detailed production documentation of all measurement and process results.
• Assist engineers with detailed integration of space-borne optical systems.
