About the Role

Our client, a prominent manufacturer of specialized industrial machinery, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal . This role is crucial for the design, development, and optimization of high-performance industrial equipment used across various sectors. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from conceptual design and detailed engineering to testing and commissioning. The position offers a stimulating environment for an engineer passionate about creating robust and efficient machinery. We are looking for a results-oriented individual with a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering innovative engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for industrial machinery using CAD software.
• Conduct engineering calculations, including stress, strain, thermal, and vibration analysis, using FEA tools.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, electrical engineering, and project management teams to ensure design for manufacturability and successful project execution.
• Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototype machines and production units.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues during development and in the field, implementing effective design modifications.
• Research and evaluate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to improve machine performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and design review presentations.
• Provide technical support to the sales and service teams as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically with industrial machinery or heavy equipment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including statics, dynamics, kinematics, and thermodynamics.
• Knowledge of various manufacturing processes (machining, welding, casting, etc.).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Familiarity with PLC control systems and automation is a plus.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
