The Role

Knowlton & Newman are part of the Rubix Group. We are a well-established 24/7 electrical and mechanical engineering services company. Our services include repairing, overhauling, and installing pumps, motors, and gearboxes.

The purpose of this role is to install, fit, test, assemble, commission, maintain, and repair mechanical systems and equipment. The role also involves ensuring work is carried out to the satisfaction of both the customer and the management team.

Key Responsibilities
Main Tasks and Deliverables:
  • Analyze job cards to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, estimate, describe problems, and/or expected serviceability.
  • Test mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems.
  • Disassemble mechanical equipment, noting parts identification, configuration, and condition.
  • Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical assemblies.
  • Requisition replacement parts.
  • Verify repairs using start-up testing procedures.
  • Retest reassembled mechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
  • Operate specialized equipment.
  • Work on customer sites as well as in the workshop.
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and promptly.
  • Follow all company health & safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment.
  • Keep the work area neat and tidy.
  • Carry out any other reasonable requests from the management team.

  • Experience working on customer sites, preferably in the Water Utility industry.

  • Well-organized with the ability to multitask.
  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude with a flexible approach to work.
  • Participation in the call-out rota.
