Our client is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic, growing team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the overall project delivery in accordance with Company, Client and industry requirements. This position is based in Cape Town.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage multiple tasks and prioritise where necessary to achieve agreed deliverables to a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Perform accurate engineering mechanical and piping design and calculations.
- Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes.
- Liaise with and provide professional support to draughting team in the preparation of drawing deliverables.
- Inter-disciplinary co-ordination of technical aspects of the design.
- Develop technical documentation including scopes of work and specifications using relevant industry standards and guidelines.
- Produce accurate engineering lists including but not limited to: equipment, lubrication, spares, valves, pipeline and special items.
- Provide accurate material take-offs as and when required.
- Compile tender technical pack and provide technical recommendations for the procurement of equipment, bulk supplies and construction contracts.
Qualifications & Skills Requirements:- Tertiary level qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience, preferably in a minerals processing or projects environment.
- Technical background with a broad multi-disciplinary base, preferably in minerals processing plants / infrastructure construction.
- Understanding of open-pit or underground mining methods.
- Proficiency in using or reviewing tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Strong Financial acumen: CAPEC/OPEX planning, cost tracking, cash flow forecasting.
- Coordinate long lead items, construction timelines, and resource management.
- Familiarity with mineral processing, exploration and geotechnical engineering.
- Experience managing full project life cycles; feasibility, FEED, detailed engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Knowledge of EPC/EPCM contract and delivery methods.
