Job description

We are currently recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our team in the Clean Water Division at our Coppermills - East London - E17 7HE site.

As a successful candidate, you will use your mechanical & electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment. This will be done in a safe, efficient, timely, and effective manner with minimal supervision, ensuring our sites remain operational for our customers.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact and actively help reduce pollution from our sites.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure health, safety, and wellbeing of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors by complying with health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  2. Undertake reactive and planned maintenance, respond to alarms, fault find, and escalate issues as necessary. Install new plant and equipment in line with standards and regulations.
  3. Record work and asset information to improve performance, identify risks, and recommend changes.
  4. Provide technical advice and support staff development, including coaching and training, such as apprenticeships.
  5. Deliver excellent customer service, interacting professionally with internal and external customers.
Location and Working Hours

Base: Coppermills, East London, E17 7HE

38 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm, with standby rota, overtime, and potential earnings increase of £8,000-£10,000 after training. PPE, tools, and a company van are provided.

Candidate Requirements
  • Time-served apprentice with significant experience or NVQ/C&G Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • Problem solver, good communicator, resilient, capable of working independently, knowledgeable about safety issues.
  • Team player with a full UK driving license.
