Job description

POSITION: Mechanical Draughtsman

LOCATION: Vereeniging

REPORTING TO: Technical Support Manager

Qualifications And Experience

Requirements:

  • BEng Mechanical Engineering
  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in CNC programming
  • CNC Machining experience (speeds, feeds, and sizes of cuts)
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D SolidWorks, Key Creator, eMastercam, and FANUC
  • Ability to read and interpret design blueprints
  • Experience with computer modelling software
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Create models and drawings of products using specialized software
  • Research and develop new products, methods, and procedures
  • Organize and maintain engineering records
  • Construct prototypes and coordinate with design/purchasing teams for design confirmation
  • Perform physical testing on prototypes
  • Design and modify equipment to develop manufacturing processes
  • Ensure timely, cost-effective, functional designs that meet specifications, quality, safety, and environmental standards, and satisfy customer and production needs
  • Ensure components and assemblies comply with industry and company standards
  • Implement ongoing value engineering
  • Incorporate feedback from internal and external customers into designs
  • Maintain all technical schedules and ensure timely approval of design plans
  • Create accurate, relevant, cost-effective designs within budget and schedule
  • Develop and revise CNC programs for multi-axis, horizontal, and vertical machines
  • Support current production and prototype projects while maintaining quality and safety standards
  • Collaborate with engineering and supervisory staff to troubleshoot and resolve design, tooling, and operational issues
  • Draft tooling and component drawings
  • Generate forging and rolling parameters to meet customer specifications
  • Prepare and compile tender concept drawings and bills of materials as directed
  • Train operators in CNC program development
