Job Description

The SA Steelworks, Engineering department currently has a vacancy for an attentive to detail, meticulous, methodical individual to join their team. The successful candidate will form part of a multi-disciplinary team and will report directly to the Engineering Manager. The prospective candidate will be involved in a wide range of projects involving machine design, civil engineering and continuous improvement.

Duties And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Following specifications and calculations to create various technical drawings
• Produce detailed drawings for fabrication/manufacturing
• Produce detailed drawings for machined parts
• Produce General Arrangement and Layout drawings
• Conduct site measurement of structures and areas
• Consultation with Engineers and workshop teams to get input to optimize designs
• Accurate record keeping, updating, and general control of all drawings
  
  

Qualifying Experience

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
• Formal drafting certification
• Drafting experience in AutoCAD and Solid Works packages
• Computer literate – proficient in MS Office
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in manufacturing/production environment
• Engineering design knowledge is essential, with experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, powertrain and machine components
• Knowledge of structural steel tables and sections essential
• Proficient in sheet metal, pipe routing and structural design
• Proficient with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Production of detailed site plans, utility layouts, structural and machine layouts
