Job Opportunity: Mechanical Design Engineer

A global leader in machinery manufacturing, dedicated to providing trusted technical solutions across industries such as mining, food, recycling, packaging, and aggregates, with markets on six continents, is seeking a full-time Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in East Rand (Gauteng) ASAP.

Position Overview:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for producing equipment outline drawings, layouts for end customers, detailed drawings, and procedures to facilitate manufacturing. The role involves interpreting customer requirements and technical specifications.

Minimum Education & Experience:

• Mechanical Engineering Degree (mandatory)
• 3-5 years' experience in Mechanical Design Engineering
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor 3D
• Previous manufacturing industry experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English
• Own transport and valid driver's license, willing to travel to client sites

Key Responsibilities:

1. Create 3D models and drawings using Inventor for the company's products
2. Adhere to project schedules for modeling and drawing completion
3. Complete final equipment designs and submit to customers for approval, including component, assembly, and manufacturing drawings
4. Produce Manufacturing Instructions (MI's) and procurement drawings for contract-specific equipment
5. Review and interpret customer specifications, applying them to product designs
6. Maintain and update contract/job files with drawing revisions and communicate changes to manufacturing and customers
7. Coordinate with sales, engineering, purchasing, production, and quality departments to ensure project accuracy and timely delivery
8. Assist sales with technical queries and mechanical drawings
