Job summary

A leading power solutions company in Boksburg is looking for a skilled technician to perform planned and breakdown repairs on Caterpillar Earthmoving components. The ideal candidate should have trade qualifications and experience in hydraulic systems, along with strong troubleshooting skills. You will be responsible for compiling inspection reports and ensuring safety and quality standards in your work.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years trade experience in the component repair process.
• 2 years minimum experience in specific position requirements for hydraulics.
• Understanding of supplier warranty systems, policies & procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and breakdown repairs to Caterpillar components.
• Compile accurate Hydraulics Inspection Reports.
• Ensure safe work practices and control contamination.

Position Outputs

• Ability to perform planned and breakdown repairs (Disassemble, inspect and assemble) Caterpillar Earthmoving components to supplier standards and customer requirements.
• Ability to ensure reusability of parts during inspection
• Ability to disassemble, inspect and assemble Hydraulic Cylinders and Pumps to Caterpillar Standards.
• Compile accurate Hydraulics Inspection Reports and Technical Analysis Reports
• Maintain professional image when representing BWE!
• Ensure safe work practice.
• Control Contamination
• Control own admin (labour booking, service reports, part returns, expenses etc.)
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained.
  
  

Qualification, Experience And Competencies

• Qualified in relevant trade (e.g. Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic/Fitter
• 3 to 5 years Trade experience in the component repair process
• 2 years minimum experience in specific position requirements for hydraulics
• Component specific technical knowledge and skills
• Advanced knowledge in the Caterpillar Service Information System – SIS2.0
• Basic technical report writing
• Basic trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
• Failure analysis skills.
• Understanding of supplier warranty systems, policies & procedures
• Follows Quality processes
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills
• Computer Literate (Use of Tablets and Apps, Outlook, Microsoft Office, STW & ET) knowledge
