About the Role
A leading multi-disciplinary engineering and consultancy firm is seeking Materials Technicians to join their team in Johannesburg, with project work across various sites.
They are hiring for two levels of expertise:
As a Materials Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that materials used in infrastructure projects meet quality standards and compliance requirements. You’ll oversee procurement, inventory management, testing, and quality control processes while contributing to the planning and implementation of civil engineering projects involving roads, stormwater, and sewer reticulation systems.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Professional Engineering Registration (Pr Eng / Pr Tech).
Registered with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) or any other international body recognized by ECSA (Washington Accord, Dublin Accord, Sydney Accord).
Registered with Environmental Assessment Practitioners of South Africa (EAPASA).
Experience & Skills:
Senior Materials Technician: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in materials testing, procurement, and quality control.
Materials Technician: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of construction materials and their applications in civil infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Project for design and project management.
Exposure to client interfacing, financial controls, and project planning.
Solid understanding of municipal infrastructure funding models.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with proven expertise in technical report writing.
Knowledge and experience in managing contracts such as FIDIC, GCC, JBCC, and NEC3.
Added Advantage:
Experience in dealing with National Roads Services.
Successful experience in proposal writing, marketing, and public presentations.
