Job summary

Drake International in Cape Town is seeking a Materials Planner for electronic manufacturing. Based in Westlake, the role focuses on planning and overall management of subcontract, in-house and development jobs, ensuring component availability and on-time delivery.

Key responsibilities include creating jobs, releasing production orders, managing un-planned material allocations, tracking non-conforming stock, and regular quarantine warehouse stock control to support schedules.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with 3–5 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with MRP systems (Syspro / SAP) and supply chain basics.
• Knowledge of ISO standards and QMS with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage jobs to support building schedules.
• Create jobs and run job releases to meet production targets.
• Manage un-planned material allocations and stock transactions.
• Track non-conforming stock and quarantine stock.
• Develop and ensure component availability for development jobs.

Overall Job Function

Planning and overall management of subcontract, in house and development jobs. Management of all NCS and quarantined components and sub-assemblies.

Job Requirements

• Grade 12, with at least 3 – 5 years working experience within a manufacturing environment with multiple complex operation, and a relevant tertiary qualification or discipline.
• Proven knowledge and experience:
• working with a MRP system (Syspro / SAP)
• supply chain principles, supplier management; OTD (on time delivery)
• AS; ISO standards
• QMS
• Exceptional attention to detail with a thorough approach to work.
• Strong planning, organizing and coordinating skills.
• Good judgement and decision making informed by critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to prioritize and multi-task within a fast-paced and pressurized environment.
• Performance-driven and results-orientated with a relentless drive to succeed.
