MATERIALS PLANNER AND EXPEDITOR

Department : Supply Chain

Sub Department : Planning & Resource

JOB OVERVIEW

The Material Planner and Expeditor is responsible for planning and controlling all packing and raw materials in line with the Master Production Schedule, ensuring their availability by calling off and expediting packaging and raw material lines as per the material requirement plan.

LEVELS OF AUTHORITY

Levels of authority include signatory and authorization powers within the scope of the job, divided into financial, people, business process, and other matters.

Purchases volumes to cover production demand within Kellogg's specifications.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND INDICATORS

Main activities focus on end results, with indicators measuring performance.

Materials Planning and Execution

  • Plans and controls packing and raw materials aligned with the Master Production Schedule.
  • Ensures the schedule is achievable over a 12-month rolling horizon.
  • Analyzes discrepancies and takes corrective actions such as releasing, expediting, delaying, or canceling orders.
  • Proactively manages change requests related to material supply issues.
  • Minimizes working capital through efficient planning.
  • Manages risks associated with promotional goods purchasing.
  • Seeks cost reduction and control improvements.
  • Monitors for inactivity or obsolescence, recommending disposition.
  • Participates in cycle count analysis and corrects inventory errors.

Supplier Management

  • Monitors consignment stock risks at suppliers.
  • Attends meetings with suppliers, marketing, quality, and R&D teams.
  • Conducts regular supplier visits.
  • Sets and measures supplier KPIs (e.g., OTIF).
  • Maintains supplier specifications and ensures awareness.
  • Participates in negotiations.

Materials Management

  • Purchases printed materials per marketing needs.
  • Sends purchase orders to suppliers on time.
  • Ensures invoices correctly reference Kellogg's PO number.
  • Informs inventory and receiving teams about PO details.
  • Maintains current open purchase orders in the ERP system.
  • Updates material planning and printed material information in ERP.
  • Assists with budget maintenance and tracks actual vs. budget prices.
  • Handles changes in bills of materials under supplier control.
  • Supports other purchasing functions as needed.

Health and Safety

  • Ensures GMP, HACCP, and sanitation standards are met.
  • Adheres to safety rules and addresses safety concerns proactively.
  • Follows Kellogg's environmental management systems.

DIMENSIONS, EDUCATION & RELEVANT YEARS JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE

Degree in Supply Chain with 3-5 years of FMCG experience.
