Materials Planner and Expeditor

Department : Supply Chain

Sub Department : Planning & Resource

JOB OVERVIEW

The Materials Planner and Expeditor is responsible for planning and controlling all packing and raw materials in line with the Master Production Schedule. They ensure availability of packing materials by calling off and expediting packaging and raw material lines as per the material requirement plan.

LEVELS OF AUTHORITY

Levels of authority include signatory and authorization powers within the scope of the job, divided into financial, people, business process, and other matters.

BUSINESS PROCESS

Purchases volumes to cover production demand within Kellogg’s specifications.

RELATIONSHIPS

This section describes internal and external relationships. It includes:

  • Internal Customers: Production, Procurement and Planning, Marketing, Finance, Stores, Quality, R&D.
  • External Customers: Suppliers, Agents.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS AND INDICATORS

Main activities include:

  • Planning and controlling all packing and raw materials according to the Master Production Schedule.
  • Ensuring the schedule is achievable over a 12-month rolling horizon.
  • Analyzing discrepancies and taking corrective actions.
  • Proactively managing change requests related to material supply.
  • Reducing working capital through efficient planning.
  • Monitoring packaging and raw materials for inactivity or obsolescence.
  • Participating in cycle count analyses and correcting inventory errors.

Supplier Management

  • Monitoring stocks of consignment materials and identifying risks.
  • Attending meetings with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Visiting suppliers regularly.
  • Setting and measuring supplier KPIs (e.g., OTIF).
  • Maintaining records of material specifications and participating in negotiations.

Materials Management

  • Purchasing printed materials per marketing requirements.
  • Ensuring timely communication of purchase orders and accurate invoicing.
  • Maintaining purchase order records on ERP system.
  • Assisting in maintaining the material budget and updating prices.
  • Handling changes in bills of materials under supplier control.

Health and Safety

  • Ensuring GMP, HACCP, and sanitation standards are adhered to.
  • Complying with health and safety rules and addressing safety concerns proactively.
  • Adhering to Kellogg’s environmental management system.

Dimensions, Education & Relevant Years Job Related Experience

Degree in Supply Chain with 3-5 years’ experience in FMCG environment.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Highly analytical with strong numerical and scenario planning skills.
  • Effective communicator, adaptable, and proactive.
  • Knowledge of Kellogg’s quality, safety procedures, materials replenishment, operational policies, SAP or similar ERP systems, and MS Excel.
