Job description

An exciting opportunity exists at Nampak Metals-Vanderbijlpark for Materials Controller in Assembly department. This position reports to the Unit Production Manager and is graded at Peromnes 10.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure tin plates are issued to the production lines according to the works orders received from the production planners to keep it running continuously to achieve the production plan and manufacturing on-time-in-full (MOTIF).
  • Reconcile the works orders to calculate spoilage and issue bailings for the responsible functions to close the orders accurately.
  • Monitor the works orders on the JDE system to keep track of the progress of the works orders to generate works orders to ensure the continuous running of the production lines to achieve MOTIF.
  • Ensure works orders are captured, analysed and closed on the JDE system in time to ensure 100% MOTIF per works order.
  • Prepare the relevant documentation for the monthly stocktakes on compounds, components and consumables to ensure the stocktake is done accurately and variances are investigated, reported and resolved.
  • Conduct the annual stocktake for tin plate and finished goods to ensure stock accuracy and variances are investigated, reported and resolved.
  • Gather all the relevant data required by the Production Unit Manager to complete the monthly production report to be presented to the plant leadership team.
  • Capture all the production outputs accurately on the MB99 log sheet capturing system to calculate the daily, weekly and monthly actual performance against the production KPI’s.
  • File all the production documentation accurately for auditing and traceability purposes.
  • Ensure overtime hours of the shift-based production teams are approved and recorded accurately on KRONOS to facilitate accurate salary payments.
  • Schedule the shifts on KRONOS according to the shift rosters received by the Foremen to ensure clocking of employees corresponds to the shift roster and schedule.
  • Ensure leave is approved and recorded accurately on the KRONO system and approve the timecards on a weekly basis to facilitate accurate payment of salaries.

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Matric
  • Diploma in Operations Management or Business Administration
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Understand accounting principles
  • Understand MS Excel and formulas
  • Knowledge of KRONOS
  • Knowledge of JDE
