Job description

Summary:

The main purpose of this role is to take the initiative to investigate identified and implied SAP data inconsistencies. This role will also be responsible for data efficiency through input of data, data quality, data cleansing, and timely control of data entry/resolution or queries.

Functions / Responsibilities:

Finance

  • Manage the controllable expenses within the department and within the allocated budgets, i.e., Labour Costs.
  • Assist the RDC team through efficient and effective management of the Master Data deliverables, to achieve and exceed financial targets and ratios, i.e., Throughput (R2.2bn, shrinkage at 0.20% of throughput).

Operational excellence

  • Manage the DC Data capture, auditing DC product and pack spec data processes effectively.
  • Support and manage the data checks for 1st Goods Receipt of a new Product into the DC.
  • Support and manage the stakeholder relationship and their role and the impact of the data and fields on the DC.
  • Adherence to the process and suitable action is taken for deviation. If there is a gap in the process, the feedback/observation should be incorporated into the definition of the process for future use thus continuous improvement of process.
  • Monitor & Manage the Data Management process.
  • Monitor & Manage the data quality of master data pertinent to the RDC, using Business Rules and experience. Be able to write queries to extract data.
  • Facilitate the resolution of conflict related to master data within RDC, with the help of other data facilitator counterparts.
  • Contribute to the thought leadership for better data governance and master data management.
  • Enforce policies that guide the Data vision for the whole organisation.
  • Communicate and promote the value of information.
  • Monitor and enforce data policies and practices within the organisation.
  • Develop an appropriate understanding of the SAP Master Data Model from a business process perspective.
  • Participate as required in the data auditing, profiling and source mapping sessions.
  • Understand all aspects of the SAP EWM Master Data Model and the SAP Tables that hold the data.
  • Must be able to extract data, complete data analysis, fault finding and propose suggested corrective actions.
  • Engage with suppliers to create optimal pack sizes for the RDC.
  • Understanding of SAP BI & Databases.
  • Correctly coordinate business data where required.
  • Monitor and drive timeous closure of issues.

Implement and manage key relationships

  • Interact and liaise with the necessary stakeholders, in order to implement master data changes and or improvements/enhancements which support the inventory flow processes and strategies of the RDC.
  • Manage service level between the RDC and central article master departments in as far as data purification and new article onboarding is concerned.
  • Manage the take-on process with vendors and articles into the RDC to ensure a smooth and streamlined take-on process with limited data problems, i.e., pack specs, barcodes, packaging configuration.
  • Ensure Supplier onboarding processes are managed by article, to ensure master data is accurate:
  • All 22,624 articles are barcoded before take-on.
  • Pack sizes, dimensions etc. obtained and fed to Article Master before stock arrives.
  • Day-to-day maintain master data where Pickers cannot pick stock due to incorrect pack data.
  • Ongoing source of supply maintenance.
  • Ad Hoc ATOF maintenance first time articles.
  • Manage and coordinate with Article Master team, the maintenance of new and problematic articles in SAP ERP6 and SAP EWM.

Manage incidents & accidents procedure (MHE & OH&S)

  • Ensure conformance to OHS procedures in your team.
  • Report on Safety is done accurately and timeously according to Company Procedure & Standard.
  • Conduct Safety audits in conjunction with OH&S based on housekeeping audits.
  • Manage the implementation of policies and procedures which relate to day-to-day operational activities and their maintenance within the operating team.

People Management

  • Manage self-development in line with the performance and career processes, in as far as own development is concerned.
  • Manage the performance of the Systems and Process team in line with Massbuild Performance management systems.
  • Develop talent bench and mitigate developmental gaps of members within the team, through employment of necessary learning and development processes.
  • Implement departmental and support RDC strategies and initiatives with regard to climate and culture strategies within the RDC as per the Builders Formula for Success initiative.

Requirements:

Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience required for this position:

  • Matric/Grade 12
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain and Logistics is essential (NQF 7).

Competencies and Skills:

Experience:

  • SAP EWM and ERP experience would be essential.
  • Proven and solid Systems and Process experience would be essential.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in a distribution and warehousing environment would be essential.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ managerial experience at a middle to Senior level is essential.
  • Computer literacy would be advantageous.
