Job summary

Farm Manager SA in South Africa seeks a senior commercial professional with a strong background in agricultural exports. The role involves reviewing commercial terms, planning pre-season market activities and supervising in-season commercial operations to maximise grower returns.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in citrus or fresh produce, strong knowledge of contract law, and a proven ability to negotiate and administer marketing, export, packing and logistics contracts.

Qualifications

• Minimum relevant qualification in agricultural economics, commerce, law, business management, marketing or a related field.
• A legal qualification or formal training in commercial law, contract management or contract negotiation is strongly advantageous.
• At least seven years of relevant commercial experience in citrus, fresh produce or agricultural exports, including senior responsibility for grower returns or export programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret, negotiate and administer agricultural marketing, export, packing and logistics contracts.
• Strong practical understanding of South African commercial and contract law and sound judgment on when legal advice is required.
• Proven competence in grower netback modelling, sales reconciliations, claims, foreign currency and working-capital forecasting.
• Experience engaging exporters, customers, attorneys, auditors, financiers, production teams and boards.
• Advanced spreadsheet, analytical and written reporting capability.
